Sci-Fi/Fantasy Worldbuilding Workshop with Annie Fox

We all love games, stories, and films that capture our imagination so completely that reality vanishes and we enter a fantastic world inhabited by fictional characters who seem as real as…well, real people. Ever wonder how writers build those worlds and create those characters?

In this session, author Annie Fox shares the process that enabled her to write her latest YA novel, Leeta Simtar: A Life on Two Planets, a story about an interspecies hybrid who travels 40 light years from her home planet to find a real home.

Bring an idea for a story or one you’re working on and Annie will give you the tools you need to start developing unforgettable worlds and characters. Contact Napa Copperfield’s Books at (707) 252-8002 to reserve your spot.

Indie Publishing Workshop by Annie and David Fox

Are you a writer with a fiction or non-fiction title you’re eager to publish? How do you make that happen, and what are the differences between traditional and independent publishing? Sign up now.

What’s the difference between traditional and independent publishing, and which one is right for you?

Traditional Publishing: That route typically involves finding a literary agent who loves your book and wants to represent you. Then (hopefully) your agent will find the perfect home for your book with a traditional publisher. When that happens the publisher funds the entire production and most decisions about publication schedule, final edit, layout, cover art and marketing are decided by the publisher. You get a small advance against royalties. They get 90% of revenue and author and agent divvie up the remaining 10%.

Indie Publishing: A popular alternative in which the author funds the production of their book, makes all the decisions and keeps a much larger percentage of the revenue!

Annie Fox and David Fox are authors (who have been published traditionally and independently). In this workshop they will share with you their publishing journeys via their media company Electric Eggplant, which they founded here in Marin in 1992. While Annie and David have published computer games, apps and books, this workshop with focus on books.
